Concludes Recession Began A Year Ago A new report by the National Bureau of Economic
Research has concluded that the US economy slipped into recession in
December 2007, a full year ago. While some investors and financial institutions
recognised the slip into recession, the White House, and by proxy the
corporate media, continuously refused to acknowledge the reality of
the situation.

against Iraq security forces kill 33
At least 33 people were killed in a spate of attacks targeting security
forces in the heart of Baghdad and the northern city of Mosul on Monday
on what was the deadliest day in Iraq in three weeks.
