National ID dead (for now)?

Liberty Think | November 17 2004

Washington sources tell this reporter that the office of 9/11 police state (aka "intelligence reform") bill conferee Sen. Roberts has confirmed that provisions relating to drivers' licenses, National IDs and other police-state/PATRIOT II measures will not be passed during the current lame-duck session of the 108th Congress. Former Congressman Bob Barr, who has been lobbying against the National ID, has been told the same thing.

It is said that either a stripped-down bill with the new Intelligence Director position will pass, or nothing at all.

None of this is certain, however, as the conferees are still meeting and the lame-duck session is to continue until Sunday. So, there's no reason to stop calling and faxing the COngress and spreading the word abot the police-state measures in the "Intelligence Reform" bill.
