The Shotgun Pellet and the Heart Attack Jon Rappoport | February 15 2006 Let me get this straight. At a distance of (fill in the blank because we don't know) feet, Dick Cheney fires his 28-gauge shotgun---and one of the pellets penetrates the orange vest of his hunting buddy, goes through whatever other layers of clothing are underneath, continues on through the flesh of the chest and into the muscle of the heart, where it stops, causing a heart attack. And if it's a lie, what are we really talking about here? Did Cheney shoot the gun 30 yards away from his pal? Two feet away? Is Cheney's silence, so far, intended to let the story die down, or to get all the ducks of a lie in a row? Is Cheney not talking because, in case some actual part of the story leaks out, he doesn't want to have already gone on the record with a lie? He'll be able to emerge from his bunker and say, "All the stories so far are wrong, and I never said any of that, and here is what happened and let's move on..." Right now, I think every detail of the story so far reported in the press is up for grabs. Yesterday, I wrote that I had questions and doubts about Katharine Armstrong's eyewitness account of the accidental shooting on her ranch. I wondered whether she was coached. Here is a brief quote from a Canadian newspaper, The Pierceland Herald. The quote refers to an Associated Press article, which so far I have not been able to locate: "Armstrong said she saw Cheney‘s security detail running toward the scene. 'The first thing that crossed my mind was he had a heart problem,' she told The Associated Press." Now, this sounds like Armstrong was not an eyewitness to the actual shooting. It sounds like she didn't see Whittington get hit by shotgun pellets. It sounds like she didn't see Cheney shoot his gun and hit Whittington. It sounds like most of what she told the press earlier was told to her by other people. Perhaps the whole story about Whittington bagging a bird first and then coming up behind Cheney is a fable. As Doug Ireland wrote yesterday for Common Dreams, how come that "second covey" of quail Cheney stumbled across was still there on the ground, after Whittington had shot his gun nearby a minute or two before? ALL the birds in the vicinity would have taken to the air when Whittington had fired his weapon. Armstrong, of course, is a staunch Republican and, according to press reports, is a former lobbyist. So why should we believe her version, especially now when it appears she is changing it. I mean, if she thought that Cheney's security people were running toward the scene because, perhaps, Cheney "had a heart problem," she must not have seen the pellets hit Whittington. If she had seen that, why would she have any doubt about why the security people were running? --------------------------------------------------- Get Alex Jones and Paul Joseph Watson's books, ALL Alex's documentary films, films by other authors, audio interviews and special reports.
