No threat found on Sydney plane

BBC | August 17 2006

Australian police searching a plane at Sydney airport say that nothing suspicious has been found on board.

The Pacific Blue flight from Fiji to Sydney was evacuated upon landing after a threat was made against it, an airport spokesman said.

The plane was parked away from the main terminal while New South Wales police investigated.

Police said an extensive search of the plane had found no threatening items, Australian radio reported.

One of the airport's runways was closed because of the incident, local media reported.

Airlines around the world have been on alert since British police said they had foiled an alleged plot to blow up several planes en route to the US.
