Mysterious Premonitions and Enigmatic Early Signs

This section is an archive of the stories we have located that indicate prior knowledge of the attacks.

According to Osama bin Laden, as revealed in a November 9, 2001 home video released by the Pentagon
on December 13, 2001, only Osama bin Laden and a handful of others knew of the impending September 11
attacks. In fact, most of the hijackers were unaware of their fate until the morning of their "martyrdom."
Osama bin Laden knew of the timing on the previous Thursday, only five days prior to the attack. This
confirms that al-Qaeda cells are extremely isolated and information is very strictly withheld until the
latest possible moment.

There is no doubt that certain spy agencies were picking up rumblings of a significant terrorist event,
but nothing on the scale of the September 11 devastation. Both Israeli and Egyptian field intelligence
were noting that a possible threat was forthcoming against the United States. (See more below.)

There were however other stories that do not fit in the category of a buzz in the Middle East's spy world.

These non-spy stories cast a mystery over their origin. They are more like premonitions. These stories
represent a few of the mysterious and ominous early signs of impending terror in America. Many of the
stories have a common thread that include New York City or tall office towers.

These stories are from American citizens, key U.S. leaders, the Arab community, and even among some
of the unknowing al-Qaeda commanders.

Perhaps these stories are indicators of future events that can be sensed by those in-tune, or perhaps these
forecasts are lucky guesses, or perhaps they simply represent a coincidence. Whatever they truly are,
prior knowledge is what shapes these enigmas.

Islamic Calendar for September 2001, printed in Egypt in May, 2001.

ON September 26, 2001 the European Newspaper

A calendar which was printed in Egypt for the month of September shows a
crashing passenger plane with Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty as a
backdrop. The calendar was printed in May, a full three months before the
Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on America, and has caused an uproar in the Dutch
town of Almere, Netherlands.

The calendar was distributed at an Islamic school long before the World Trade
Center attacks. The Mayor was alerted to the calendar's existence in the local
Islamic school in the town of Almere, and immediately notified the Dutch
internal security service (BVD) about the strange coincidence. The BVD is
reportedly investigating the matter.

The Almere Town Council has "urgently advised" the management of the
Islamic School Foundation to "cooperate with the Dutch authorities and help
determine the calendar's origin."

The head of the Islamic school, allegedly had a large number of calendars in
her possession from the end of May to the beginning of June, well-informed
sources informed De Telegraaf. When confronted with the calendar images,
she responded in a shocked, startled manner, asking "How did you get this"
before shrouding herself in silence when further questioned by journalists.

"I am supported by Allah, to
die for Allah" is quoted on the
September calendar above.
These are the same words
reportedly used by an Egypt
Air pilot who allegedly crashed
a jet in November of 1999.

The day before terrorists attacked New York and Washington, a fifth-grader in a Dallas suburb told his teacher
World War III would begin the next day, school officials have told the FBI.

The boy was absent from school the day of the attacks, Sept. 11, and the following day, but has been at school
since then, said Rhonda Lucich, a director of elementary education for the Garland Independent School District.

Lucich said the boy approached his teacher on the afternoon of Sept. 10 and casually told her:

"Tomorrow, World War III will begin. It will begin in the United States, and the United States will lose."

Lucich said the child's statements were passed along to the FBI. She said she did not know whether the agency
had acted on the tip. An FBI spokesman could not be reached for comment.

"It is one of those things I sincerely want to believe was coincidental," Lucich said.

Lucich declined to name the elementary school involved. She said she was told about the boy's comment by
his teacher and the school's principal two days after the Sept. 11 attacks.

King is attempting to ask Rumsfeld where he was on the morning of September 11, 2001. The segment was recorded in the Pentagon room where Rumsfeld was first told of the attack, only minutes after warning Congress that a "shocking" event was imminent. KING: You were right here when the Pentagon... RUMSFELD: I was. KING: And someone told me that you had spoken to a congressional delegation... RUMSFELD: Right here in this room. KING: ... in this room about terrorism that morning. RUMSFELD: I had said at -- I had an 8 o'clock breakfast -- that sometime in the next two, four, six, eight, 10, 12 months, there would be an event that would occur in the world that would be sufficiently shocking that it would remind people, again, how important it is to have a strong, healthy Defense Department that contributes -- that underpins peace and stability in our world. And that is what underpins peace and stability. It's the fact -- we can't have healthy economies and active lives unless we live in a peaceful, stabile world. And I said that to these people. And someone walked in and handed a note that said that a plane had just hit the World Trade Center. And we adjourned the meeting. And I went in to get my CIA briefing right next door here, and the whole building shook within 15 minutes. And it was a jarring thing. KING: And you ran toward the smoke? RUMSFELD: Yes. KING: Because? RUMSFELD: Oh, goodness, who knows? I wanted to see what had happened. I wanted to see if people needed help. And went downstairs and helped for a bit with some people on stretchers. And then I came back up here and started to realize I had to get back up here and get at it. KING: I know we're out of the allotted time, but Gary Hart has said that he expects -- his commission previously said this would happen. You were pretty prophetic that morning. But it's going to happen again. RUMSFELD: Well, we have to recognize that it's a dangerous and untidy world. There's a lot of very powerful, lethal weapons that exist and ways that people can impose enormous damage. And we have to be vigilant. We have to be willing to invest to see that we have the kinds of capabilities that we can deter and defend and, where necessary, preempt. KING: But it's an every-minute job. RUMSFELD: It is. It is. Editor's Note: The following conversation segment is taken from the Pentagon videotape
released on December 13, 2001, apparently recorded on November 9, 2001 in Kandahar.
The text picks up where Osama (Usama) bin Laden (UBL) talks about dreams and the
group then shares stories of visions and dreams that occurred prior to the attacks.

UBL: Abdallah Azzam, Allah bless his soul, told me not to record anything (...inaudible...) so I thought that
was a good omen, and Allah will bless us (...inaudible...). Abu-Al-Hasan Al-((Masri)), who appeared on
Al-Jazeera TV a couple of days ago and addressed the Americans saying: “If you are true men, come down
here and face us.” (...inaudible...) He told me a year ago: “I saw in a dream, we were playing a soccer game
against the Americans. When our team showed up in the field, they were all pilots!” He said: “So I wondered if
that was a soccer game or a pilot game? Our players were pilots.” He (Abu-Al-Hasan) didn’t know anything
about the operation until he heard it on the radio. He said the game went on and we defeated them. That was
a good omen for us.

Shaykh: May Allah be blessed.

Unidentified Man Off Camera: Abd Al Rahman Al-(Ghamri) said he saw a vision, before the operation, a
plane crashed into a tall building. He knew nothing about it.

Shaykh: May Allah be blessed!

Sulayman ((Abu Guaith)): I was sitting with the Shaykh in a room, then I left to go to another room where
there was a TV set. The TV broadcasted the big event. The scene was showing an Egyptian family sitting in
their living room, they exploded with joy. Do you know when there is a soccer game and your team wins, it
was the same expression of joy. There was a subtitle that read: “In revenge for the children of Al Aqsa’,
Usama Bin Laden executes an operation against America.” So I went back to the Shaykh (meaning UBL) who
was sitting in a room with 50 to 60 people. I tried to tell him about what I saw, but he made gesture with his
hands, meaning: “I know, I know…”

UBL: He did not know about the operation. Not everybody knew (...inaudible...). Muhammad ((Atta)) from
the Egyptian family (meaning the Al Qa'eda Egyptian group), was in charge of the group.

Shaykh: A plane crashing into a tall building was out of anyone's imagination. This was a great job. He was
one of the pious men in the organization. He became a martyr. Allah bless his soul.

Shaykh (Referring to dreams and visions): The plane that he saw crashing into the building was seen before
by more than one person. One of the good religious people has left everything and come here. He told me,
“I saw a vision, I was in a huge plane, long and wide. I was carrying it on my shoulders and I walked from the
road to the desert for half a kilometer. I was dragging the plane.” I listened to him and I prayed to Allah to
help him. Another person told me that last year he saw, but I didn't understand and I told him I don't
understand. He said, “I saw people who left for jihad...and they found themselves in New York...in Washington
and New York.” I said, “What is this?” He told me the plane hit the building. That was last year. We haven't
thought much about it. But, when the incidents happened he came to me and said, “Did you see...this is
strange.” I have another man...my god...he said and swore by Allah that his wife had seen the incident a
week earlier.

She saw the plane crashing into a building...that was unbelievable, my god.

UBL: The brothers, who conducted the operation, all they knew was that they have a martyrdom operation and
we asked each of them to go to America but they didn’t know anything about the operation, not even one letter.
But they were trained and we did not reveal the operation to them until they are there and just before they
boarded the planes.

UBL: (...inaudible...) then he said: Those who were trained to fly didn’t know the others. One group of people
did not know the other group. (...inaudible...) (Someone in the crowd asks UBL to tell the Shaykh about the
dream of ((Abu-Da’ud)).

UBL: We were at a camp of one of the brother’s guards in Qandahar. This brother belonged to the majority of
the group. He came close and told me that he saw, in a dream, a tall building in America, and in the same
dream he saw Mukhtar teaching them how to play karate. At that point, I was worried that maybe the secret
would be revealed if everyone starts seeing it in their dream. So I closed the subject. I told him if he sees
another dream, not to tell anybody, because people will be upset with him. (Another person’s voice can be
heard recounting his dream about two planes hitting a big building).

UBL: They were overjoyed when the first plane hit the building, so I said to them: be patient.

Charles Wm. Burwell III painted an ominous art image in the spring of
2000 that was never completed; the last work done on it was in September
2000. It was to be an image of calamity of some sort, but he didn't have a
clear idea of where to take it. The artist said, "I have not touched it since
September 2000, one year before the WTC attack. I pretend no psychic
abilities or gift of prophesy. Art is my gift, and this is the only artistic
experience I have had that appears to portend an actual event. Although
I had generalized emotions and concerns about our safety as a nation
and was thinking of something ominous (thus, the rat/monster image),
it bothered me to paint a scene so destructive and menacing. I decided
to pursue it no further, and hung the unfinished work, an oddity, in the
porte cocher outside my studio."

Stories of Prior Knowledge of the September 11 Attacks from Israel and Egypt

The stories below reflect an ongoing suspicion that both Egyptian and Israeli intelligence may have had credible
evidence of a major attack on the United States prior to September 11, 2001.

This suspicion continues to be expressed, several weeks after the attacks, particularly by Arabic news agencies.
Many people in Pakistan and other Muslim countries believe that the attacks were part of an Israeli conspiracy.

There is little doubt that Osama bin Laden and his Al-Qaeda network are responsible for the attacks. However,
Israeli intelligence is the best connected intelligence agency in the Middle East, and they likely were receiving
several significant signals from the field that a "spectacular" event was forthcoming.

On December 8, 2001 Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said Egypt told the Americans "something would
happen" almost two weeks prior to the September 11th attacks.

On September 27, 2001 the Washington Post
Reported the Following Story:

Officials at an instant-messaging firm Odigo confirmed today that two employees received text messages
warning of an attack on the World Trade Center two hours before terrorists crashed planes into the
New York landmarks.

Citing a pending investigation by law enforcement, the company declined to reveal the exact contents of the
message or to identify the sender.

But Alex Diamandis, vice president of sales and marketing, confirmed that workers in Odigo's research and
development and international sales office in Israel received a warning from another Odigo user
approximately two hours prior to the first attack.

Diamandis said the sender of the instant message was not personally known to the Odigo employees. Even
though the company usually protects the privacy of users, the employees recorded the Internet protocol
address of the message's sender to facilitate his or her identification.

Soon after the terrorist attacks on New York, the Odigo employees notified their management, who contacted
Israeli security services. In turn, the FBI was informed of the instant message warning. FBI officials were not
immediately available for comment today.

The Odigo service includes a feature called People Finder that allows users to seek out and contact others
based on certain interests or demographics. Diamandis said it was possible that the attack warning was
broadcast to other Odigo members, but the company has not received reports of other recipients of the
message.

ISRAEL'S military intelligence service, Aman, issued an urgent warning of an impending terrorist "spectacular"
against America, several days before the suicide bombers flew passenger airliners into New York's Trade
Towers and the Pentagon on September 11.

Aman had no details of the targets, but picked up enough indicators of major terrorist activity from a
combination of informants and electronic eavesdropping to send out an alert, which also covered US interests
in Britain, France and Germany.

Much of the Israeli intelligence centered on Imad Mughniyeh, head of the Iranian-backed Hizbollah movement's
foreign operations section, and on Dr Ayman Al Zawahiri, the Egyptian-born terrorist mastermind reputed to
be Osama bin Laden's chosen successor.

The Israelis say they have evidence linking both men to agents representing SSO, Iraq's foreign intelligence
service, and believe Baghdad has provided finance and logistical support to them.

Links between the terrorist network and Iraq have been established by Pakistan's shadowy ISI agency and by
the Czech Republic's counter-intelligence service.

Salah Suleiman, an Iraqi SSO agent, was detained on the Pakistan border last October after a series of trips
into Taliban-controlled territory to meet bin Laden. After interrogation, he was deported.

Iraqi agent, Ahmad Khalil Ibrahim Samir Al-Ani, has been expelled by the Czechs for "conduct incompatible
with his diplomatic status". They had been monitoring his activities after a tip-off from Israel that he was
planning to bomb Radio Free Europe, a station financed by the CIA that broadcasts to Iraq and Iran.
Baghdad regards the broadcasts as "an act of aggression".

During the surveillance, they photographed Al-Ani with Mohammed Atta, the al Qaeda agent believed to have
flown the first plane into the World Trade Center.

On November 9, 2001 Osama bin Laden Tells a Saudi Sheik That Unknowing al-Qaeda Members Had Dreams & Visions Forecasting the September 11 Attacks.
